Description (Service)

Confidential services to help adults achieve the math, writing and reading skills required for employment and to fully participate in the community. There are Adult Learning Centres in Wiarton, Walkerton, Saugeen Shores and Owen Sound. Sites may also support many locations within the local area.

Services include:

  • Literacy and Basic Skills program - improve essential communication (reading, writing, oral) and numeracy skills to enhance employment, independence or further training (see separate record)
  • General upgrading in math, reading and writing to achieve goals such as finishing high school, finding work, completing forms, or how to help children with homework
  • English as a Second Language (ESL)
  • Basic Computer Training - personal lesson with instructor or group lesson, call to book appointment
    • Some lessons available online
  • Family literacy
  • Correspondence courses
  • Support for people with learning disabilities
