Description (Service) For individuals unable to complete their income tax and benefit return themselves and are unable to pay for assistance, the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) may be able to assist. Volunteers can help complete the income tax and benefit return if income is low and tax situation is simple.

Service Details
Hours 2019 clinic dates by appointment: 10:30 am- 4:30 pm
Dates Mar-Apr * Mon-Wed
Areas Served Grey County
Eligibility These suggested maximum income levels should serve as a guideline only 
 
Single individual – up to $35,000  
Two-person family – up to $45,000 (combined income of a couple, or one adult with one child under 18)  
+ add $2,500 for each additional dependent child in the family  
 
Local community organizations have the flexibility to adjust or set additional eligibility criteria for taxpayers based on the local economic environment, the population they serve, and their own capacity 
 
Volunteers do not prepare tax returns for complex situations such as: 
 
* returns for deceased persons 
* individuals who file for bankruptcy 
* self-employed individuals 
* individuals who report capital gains or losses 
* individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and expenses 
 
Eligible taxpayers normally served by the CVITP include: 
 
* Aboriginal peoples 
* Low-income individuals and social assistance recipients 
* Newcomers to Canada 
* Seniors 
* Students

Physical Access Partially Accessible ; Clinic is on second floor with only stair access * arrangements can be made to assist on the main level - it is not in a fully enclosed room but dividers can be used * if main floor access is required, advise when making appointment
