Description (Service) COVID-19 Response Due to concerns regarding COVID-19, all in-person income tax clinics have been cancelled 
In their place, SEGCHC will accept drop-off returns only. If you would like our help to complete your tax return, please call Crystal Ferguson at 519-379-5243 to set up a drop off time. Returns will be dropped off at either the Markdale office (55 Victoria Ave) or the Dundalk office (53 Main St W). If you do not have transportation to these locations, alternate arrangements can be made.  
 
Regular Service:  
Provides volunteers to help prepare tax and benefit returns for individuals with a modest income and simple tax situation * Will complete current and previous years 
 
Appointments available year round if a volunteer is available * Appointment is required
Service Details
Public Comments E-file (for current and past 3 years) can only be done Mar-Dec (approx) * Returns for older than 4 years can be done, but must be filed through the mail

Eligibility These suggested maximum income levels should serve as a guideline only: 
* Single individual – up to $35,000  
* Two-person family – up to $45,000 (combined income of a couple, or one adult with one child under 18)  
+ add $2,500 for each additional dependent child in the family  
 
Local community organizations have the flexibility to adjust or set additional eligibility criteria for taxpayers based on the local economic environment, the population they serve, and their own capacity 
 
Volunteers do not prepare tax returns for complex situations such as:  
* returns for deceased persons 
* individuals who file for bankruptcy  
* self-employed individuals 
* individuals who report capital gains or losses 
* individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and expenses 
 
Eligible taxpayers normally served by the CVITP include:  
* Aboriginal peoples 
* Low-income individuals and social assistance recipients 
* Newcomers to Canada 
* Seniors 
* Students
