Description (Service) The Emergency Christmas Assistance Program will consist of a turkey, gift card for extra groceries that will be needed for a Christmas meal and for those with children, toys or gift cards with be provided for children up to the age of 17 years of age.

If someone can not pick up hamper themselves, they can make arrangements for a family member or friend to pick it up on their behalf, but must let The Salvation Army know of the arrangements so they will release the hamper to their friend/family with the proof of proper ID.

All donations are welcomed and can be dropped off at The Salvation Army Family Services/Church at 581 12th street in Hanover Monday-Friday 8:30 am-4 pm. Please call before drop off to make sure someone is on site and available to accept your donation, or call to arrange another drop off time. Money donations made by cheque are to be made payable to The Salvation Army Hanover (please specify Food Bank, Christmas Assistance Program or other). For Chesley, please call to set up a time for Wednesday mornings for drop off of donations.

Volunteer opportunities with Christmas Kettles available starting after November 11th. Call or walk-in to office and speak with Cindy, for more information or to complete an application. In high demand for kettle volunteers.

  • 10 am-1 pm on Dec 4, 2023 * Dec 8, 2023 * Dec 11, 2023 * Dec 15, 2023
Dates: Registration: Nov 7, 2023- Dec 15, 2023. Please make the deadline.

Eligibility Anyone in need, but program is limited to those who are not already receiving assistance from another organization.
